According to many people, mobile games are not good at all. They don’t think mobile games are popular. However, the fact is that on everyone’s phone you may see a few games installed. Let’s find out why they are so popular in the here and now.

Free or Inexpensive

One of the main reasons behind their popularity is that they are available free of charge. Actually, developers use a lot of other ways to generate money for their efforts. This helps them keep making more games. That’s the reason you can see a lot of games that are available for a couple of dollars. Even most of them are free.

Everyone loves free stuff, especially the good stuff. For instance, you can download Final Fantasy for free. Even popular titles, such as Pokemon Go can be downloaded for free. You won’t have to pay a penny for them.

Great Quality

Although Android games feature a retro feel, as they are relatively easier to develop. However, there is no compromise on quality. You will see that the most recent titles compete with top titles like Super Nintendo and Genesis. As a matter of fact, you can find tons of 3D games that allow you to get the most out of your Android handset. They offer amazing experience.

We can’t deny the fact that there are some not-so-good games for Android. The thing is that most of them are entertaining.

Portability

Unlike other platforms, Android offers a lot of special stuff. Other systems, such as Nintendo 3DS is mobile. Moreover, their budget is a sign that they make great games. But Android is far ahead of Nintendo because the platform is open to everyone.

Since we all need to stay in touch with our family, friends, colleagues and relatives, we use cell phones. If you are waiting for someone, playing a mobile game is a great idea. This will help you pass time without getting bored.

Moreover, you have thousands of titles to choose from. Since a cell phone is always in your pocket, you can play your favorite game whenever you want to.

Immersion and Novelty

Just like Pokemon Go, Android offers a degree of immersion that no other platform has been able to offer. Many mobile games give a real-life experience. They make people feel great at all times. After all, entertainment is important for all of us.

There is something special about mobile gaming. For instance, mobile phones help some genres expand as they can’t work on other consoles. Let’s take an example. You can find a lot of brain games that have extremely hard questions.

Since you can use your phone on the go, you won’t need to carry your laptop or cell phone with you to play games. You can just take out your smartphone and launch your favorite title to keep yourself occupied.

The Takeaway

In short, Android games offer a lot of advantages over other consoles, and that’s why they are so popular. Hopefully, we will see tons of Android games down the road. Hope this article will help you.

Samsung S9: More Evolutionary Than Revolutionary

It’s been a busy six months for cell phone manufacturers.

First came Apple with the iPhone 8 followed by the highly awaited iPhone X. Google chimed in with its Pixel 2. Now it’s Samsung’s turn to join the party.

The new Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ are ready for your chatting, texting and viewing pleasure.

While the phones are not “game changers” they do represent some large steps in improvements, ones that Samsung says matter most to consumers.

The phones are the same size as their predecessors, the S8 and S8+. The screens are slightly bigger and brighter.

An advanced camera is on-board along with stereo speakers.

Some new fun add-ins Samsung believes users will greatly enjoy are improved slow motion video, AR emoji and photo language translation.

Like other Samsung phones the S9s are water resistant. They include an infinity display, a headphone jack and wireless charging.

Better audio is promised for audio streaming and the video can be made slow, no we mean really slow. Slower than that actually.

Cell phone cameras keep getting better and better and the S9s click along the same path. Like their recently upgraded competitors the devices take sharper photos in more challenging light.

The phones have a dual camera with a new dual aperture that adjusts to light like the human eye. Need more light you can have it. Need less light you can have that too.

The improved camera will help with your video shooting. In fact there is a slow motion tool that can take videos 32 times slower than normal.

The slower video can give you some unusual shots. Whatever the result Samsung will automatically match with it some music to go along with the look and feel of your efforts.

Shoot something festive and you will get some upbeat sounds. Take something a little more serious and Samsung will match that as well. The music can be adjusted as necessary.

Many are familiar with Snapchat’s Bitmoji app. The S9s have something similar called AR Emoji. It will take your selfie and turn it into an emoji sticker. Hair and clothing can be customized. Glasses and other accessories are easily added. You can appear as a bunny or cat as well.

No matter your emoji taste, it all shows up in 18 preset GIFs attached to the keyboard.

Need something translated? The phones can help with that too. Similar to Google’s Translate app, you can hold it up to a sign and get a translation in your native language. The app works in 54 languages.

Not to be outdone by Apple, Samsung’s phones boast improved facial recognition called “Intelligent Scan”. Now facial recognition is blended with a scanner. A new tool enables you to open the phone with your iris or full face depending on the sunlight.

Audio is touted to be crisper and louder on the stereo speakers tuned by AKG. Samsung claims the sound is 1.4x more powerful than previous Galaxy phones. Dolby Atmos technology will provide a multi-dimensional, theater-like sound experience.

Available colors include black, blue and purple. A gray option will be available later.

As you would expect, the price is on-par with similar phones but still under $1,000. The S9 will run a little over $700, while the S9+ will set you back around $840.

While several upgrades make the phones more versatile and more fun, there is less of a wow factor than in debuts by other products. Still the new S9s add enough pop to provide a real Android based challenger to the Apple X and other competing mobile devices.

Do You Really Need a Smartwatch?

Although smartwatches have been around since the 80’s, they have received a surge of appeal in the last couple years. One of the biggest reasons smartwatches are increasingly popular these days is perhaps because they are not what they used to be, and are rather getting a lot better than when they were first conceived. When shopping for the smartwatch, you will be spoilt for choice given the vast number of options available, but it’s not really about buying a smartwatch, the big question is do you need one at all.

The first thing to consider is the fact that smartwatches work in collaboration with your smartphone, meaning that even though you sport a wearable tech device on your wrist, it will only work when connected with your smartphone located within a specific range. Smartwatches are designed to provide you with basic notifications such as calls, texts, emails, and most even allow you to reply to them.

But the chances of you writing or reading an email or reading a long article on a smartwatch are highly unlikely. Unless of course you’re stuck in a dire situation and the only chance of survival is through reading info on the screen of your smartwatch. You may however do these tasks on your smartphone though, and get rid of the extra device you have to haul around on your wrist.

On a brighter note, there are a few situations where a smartwatch might prove handy such as using it to pay at the gas pump, open your car doors, identify yourself at the bank, or buzz open the door to your school or office. This would eliminate the need to take out your keys, wallet and your ID.

With notifications on your wrist, you know immediately when you receive an email, text or calls so you don’t have to dig onto your pocket, giving you the ultimate smartphone freedom. And if you’re thinking your wrist will constantly vibrate with frivolous notifications, it’s not rocket science that you can turn on and turn off these notifications as you want.

You are usually prompted to choose the type of notifications and how you’d like to be alerted – vibrate or beeps or both during the smartphone setup process. Another selling point of smartwatches is their health and fitness tracking capabilities, meaning there are some devices that provide you with several health related metrics including heart rate. They not only track these metrics, but also advise on what to do next such as letting you know when you’re stressed out and how to combat it.

Unfortunately however not everyone is interested in this data so if it doesn’t matter to you, then this is one feature you will likely not need when buying a smartwatch. New smartwatches when first introduced were goofy looking, clumsy gadgets, but the latest devices all look and work great. Adding to this, they offer several different customization options such as watch faces, straps and even battery life has been considerably improved and now lasts days on end.

Bottom line is that smartphones do provide a certain level of convenience and definitely a small break from your smartphone. They are also much cheaper than what they used to be so getting on and experiencing the perks is a whole cheaper than what they used to be. Furthermore, they can be paired with several other devices such as fitness trackers, high end chest heart rate monitoring devices to gauge comprehensive data on several aspects of your health, and some even allow you to pay for groceries at stores such as Whole Foods.

With a smartwatch, you no longer have to be a slave to your smartphone, but buying one completely depends on individual needs.

Why Tesla’s New Semi-Truck Pricing Is A Game Changer

Tesla just unveiled the pricing for its semi-truck and once again, it’s beating all expectations!

Initially, when this model was first announced, people were making disparate guesses as to pricing in relation to battery size. Some assumed that if the vehicle comes with a thousand kilowatt hour battery with a 500-mile range, the price tag would most likely fall within the $200,000 t0 $250,000 range.

Tesla Semi-Truck Priced Competitively

They’ve finally released the actual costs and frankly these numbers are mind-blowing. The starting price is at $150,000 for the 300-mile range model, $180,000 for the 500-mile range model, and $200,000 for the fully loaded Founders Series model, which should also be at the 500-mile range.

To put this in perspective, the entry-level price for a diesel-powered semi-truck is approximately one hundred thousand dollars. If you prefer something that’s more reliable or that has more features, you’ll have to look at the $110,000 to $120,000 range.

Interestingly enough, when you consider the difference between the two models (300-mile range and 500-mile range models), what were actually seeing is a bargain-priced upgrade.

Viewed from this angle, the announced pricing even becomes more cost-effective and attractive. We’re talking about an upgrade cost of only $15,000 for every additional 100-mile range (about 200-kilowatt more battery muscle)!

Of course, these calculations could be way off, these are based on initial numbers and observations and there will be corollary costs involved with every purchase. But, if the math proves right, this is indeed a game-changer!

The Elon Musk Factor

Of late, Tesla seems to be making inroads and getting a lot of mileage over the competition. They already have the clear technology edge, thanks to a forward-thinking decision to go big on R&D.

And, they have Elon Musk.

“Let’s face it, people purchase a Tesla EV because it’s a great car with a wonderful tech, they invest in Tesla because they believe in Elon Musk,” observed TColey 100, a keen observer in the EV space. “Elon Musk is Tesla’s most valuable asset and that is what the competition has to contend with.”

When it comes to Tesla, online discussions would often – naturally so – gravitate around the areas where the company excels in. EV technology, batteries, and their massive super charging network, those topics are par for the course.

But, if there’s one differentiator who’s making things happen for Tesla that could only be Elon Musk. Comparisons have been made and tons of pages have been written about the man. The closest tech visionary that comes to mind is, of course, Steve Jobs.

They’re both dream chasers who caused massive disruptions in their respective industries searching for breakthroughs. They do what they do best because they see that it can be done. It’s unfortunate that Jobs died early. The way things are shaping up, Musk is poised to achieve far greater things before he’s done.

This piece is not intended to glorify Tesla or Musk. Far from that, the company has its own set of shortcomings to deal with but its leadership and direction remain sound. Let’s give credit where credit is due.

History of Gadgets

The history of gadgets spans as far back as humanity itself – since hominids began creating tools to make their lives easier. Humans have always created devices and appliances with specific practical purposes that were initially thought of as novelties, due to unfamiliarity with and initial unwillingness to accept the technology. Today, industry has augmented the creation of new gadgets, while certain retailers, including Brookstone and Richard Thalheimer’s RichardSolo.com, specialize in popularizing them.

What famous inventors Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Edison, Alexander Graham Bell and Leonardo da Vinci, among others, had in common was foresight. They understood that a lifetime spent playing with what others viewed as toys and senseless gadgets would eventually result in indispensable technology. From just that small group, the groundwork for electricity, communications, film, and flight was laid because of their gadgets, which obviously possessed more value than novelty.

Perhaps one of the earliest, most well known gadgets created is the wheel, many millennia ago. Take a ride in your car and witness how truly revolutionary such a gadget became and how much we now rely on it for transportation. A more recent gadget, the Apple iPhone, appears to be the beginning stages of yet another gadget-turned-necessity that will reshape communications.

“The iPhone may someday be looked upon as the device that started a second revolution in computing. Desktop computing was the first revolution. Hand-held computing will someday be regarded as the second revolution, and the iPhone is the product that started it.”

-Richard Thalheimer, RichardSolo.com

All gadgets were not created equal. In fact most inventions are built on the newest technology. The world of gadgets is tiered; devices fall into one of four categories: mechanical, electronic, programmable, and application. Mechanical gadgets include the wheel, as well as later developments such as the pulley, the bicycle, the sail boat, the thermometer and the sort. Following the advent of electricity, gadgets were taken to a new level as inventors began to discover different uses for the newly harnessed energy. The television, radio and quartz watch are examples of electronic gadgets. After electricity, inventors toyed around with electronic information via microprocessor, beginning an age of programmable devices such as computers, and later, MP3 players and the iPhone. Application gadgets include iTunes, Microsoft Office and other computer applications that customize our experience with programmable devices.

Richard Thalheimer, the President and founder of online gadget vendor RichardSolo.com, and founder and former CEO of gadget giant The Sharper Image, understands, maybe better than anyone, that there’s much more to gadgets than novelty.

“Certainly most people enjoy the novelty of a gadget that introduces new convenience to their lifestyle. What they forget is that solving these everyday problems is not just entertainment, but some of these devices become functional necessities. In my personal life, I rely on my iPhone, my garage door opener, my nose hair trimmer, my electric toothbrush, and other gadgets that were once regarded as novel gadgets. ”

– Richard Thalheimer, RichardSolo.com

Both his former brainchild and his current venture sell quirky, useful and fun gadgets of all types, from mechanical to programmable and application. He has seen some devices, such as the Ionic Breeze air purifier, spur sensational and lasting trends based on a realization of utility value, while others collected dust on the shelves after their novelty wore out. Specialty stores like The Sharper Image and Richard Thalheimer’s RichardSolo.com serve a greater purpose: spread new ideas, and give credit to the Franklins and Edisons of the world.

Technology

What is technology? I bet that everyone you ask will give you a different definition, depending on the things he/she uses. I’m sure your mother will tell you that technology makes her life easy because of all the gadgets that were invented, your younger brother will say technology means latest generation computers and high detailed games, you will probably say that it is your mobile phone. I will say for me technology is semi-cocked food. It was probably the best invention ever. But it’s just me.

So, we have established how we, the mortals, see technology. But wouldn’t be really interesting to see what it really is? Well it deals with how a species customs and knowledge of instruments meant to ease the life and how it affects its capability to fit into the environment. This is a general definition.

We, the humans see it as a result of the interaction of different sciences and engineering.

Technology is one of those terms that actually cannot be defined. It cam mean everything from a main board to a way of organizing a factory. It can refer to practically everything, because all of the things around us were, at a certain point technological breakdowns.

How can we use it? As such, in specific areas like “medical technology”, describing only one aspect of science or in expressions like “state-of-the-art-technology”, which is by far more abstract.

We have used technology for as far as we existed. It is in our blood to discover all kinds of things meant to ease our life. And if they do not exist, you can bet wee will invent them. Starting with the discovery of fire and with the adaptation of all the things we find in nature to our needs and ending with the World Wide Web and the space satellites launched into the orbit, we managed to turn everything in our favor. And that is technology. Well, as our ancestors used to say, since the invention of the wheel we’ve learned a great deal about controlling our environment.

Technology is every ware around us, permitting us to interact at a global scale. Imagine that! With just a click you can see your friend from the other side of the world in real time. Not just talk to her, but see her, see what she does and how she reacts.

But technology brought upon us a great curse too. We didn’t invent only good things. There are a lot of destructive gadgets that do not ease our existence, but only complicate it, or end it. Bang-Bang! And that’s not your kid’s gun, but a real one that can end your life in a heart beat.

All in all technology is what makes the world go round every day. Well, not exactly. Magic, or the laws of nature make that. Technology is everything else, all the things that can’t be blamed on magic. Ant that’s about 99,9% of the things that you use in life. So, VIVA Technology.

Choosing the Right Smart TV

Your smart TV is on its last legs and the time has come to buy another. This seems like an easy decision, but TV buying can be a very complicated task. You need to arm yourself with information before ever setting foot inside a television showroom. You need to have a smart TV buying guide for you to make the right choice.

Buying a television is something that you will not likely do very often. When you do decide to make this kind of purchase you need to go into it prepared with the knowledge of what you want. There are several sets to pick from with each one offering different size, style, and features. The possibilities may leave you feeling confused.

You might want a high-definition television that will give the kind of crystal clear picture that makes you feel as if you are there. Another option may be a TV that can offer you a theater sized screen with surround sound. This is ideal for those of you who like to watch a lot of movies.

Making a decision

The best way to choose the kind of television that you want is first to sort through your options. If you know what you need and what you want, then you will be able to pick out your television in no time.

Size

The most important thing you need to consider is what size of television you need. Measure the area you are placing the television before you go to the store. You don’t want to come home with a TV that is too big.

Consider high definition

With the recent switch to high-definition TV, you may want to get a high def set. You can go for analog if you can find one, and it will work as long as you have satellite or cable. It’s better just to get a high definition television. Besides, the picture on high def TVs is amazing.

You need to know what signal you have

Whether you have cable television or satellite TV, you will need to have that information available. Each set has a different method of input and knowing the type of system you have will help you pick one that is compatible. If you have your heart set on a TV that is not going to fit with your home system, you may be able to find some adapter to make it fit. It is likely that if you are purchasing one of the newer sets, you won’t need to worry about the input, as they are universal.

Know the viewing range

This is the length that you will be from the set. If you are getting a television that has a high def or extra large screen, you will want to make sure you are farther from the TV. Sitting too close will likely hurt your eyes after only a short viewing time.

Type of screen

There are plasma screens and high definition screens. If you speak with a representative at the store they can help you in choosing the right screen for you. Some things that will be considered are the size of your room, your viewing range, and the signal set up that you have at home.

Conclusion

Selecting out a new television should be a fun and exciting experience instead of a difficult one. If you go to the store armed with the right information, it is likely that the sales representative can help you in making the right choice, and most stores will even offer free set up of your new television. All just to make TV buying a comfortable experience. It will all be worth it when you are at home watching your fantastic television.

Most Common Problems of Android Smartphones & Their Solutions

In the years 2007 and 2008, when Google and Andy Rubin with their team of researchers and engineers were busy breathing life into an idea in the form of an Android phone, little did man know what a digital revolution it would bring forth. ‘Sooner’ was the first vision of what an Android phone would be like and was built in conjunction with HTC in 2006 and in the year 2007 T-Mobile collaborated with them as a testing partner.

It’s little more than a decade now and man is juggling with multiple Android phones at a time and experiencing is benefits. Android phones have influenced the way people behave and think. What can be more overpowering?

As we all know, there is a flip side to everything. Android phones too are not bereft of it. Let us see what are the common problems faced by Android phone users and how they can be resolved.

Low Battery

Low battery is always an annoying problem with Android smartphones. Charging it several times a day isn’t fair on the part of an avid phone user as it takes a lot of time to be recharged to 100 percent. To elongate the battery life of your phone, clear all the apps running in the background, turn off the cellular data or Wi-Fi when not in use, lower the brightness to a level of your comfort and turn on the battery saving mode. These little hacks can save you much battery for emergencies and otherwise.

Running Slow

It is an undeniable fact that the users are at fault here. The phone running slow is a reflection of our smartphone habits. Reasons for this are, too many apps for too less internal storage, too many photos and videos, existence of app cache and app data and applications that run continuously in the background. Just like a person can walk or run faster with a less stuffed stomach than with a filled one, a smartphone too will work faster when its free of heavy files, apps and junk. Delete unused apps or try using their lighter versions. App cache is a major reason which slows down your phone considerably. Go to settings>Apps>clear cache. Know more about how to clear app cache and clear app data on Android for a faster working phone.

Losing Wi-Fi Connectivity

The Android Wi-Fi sleep policy turns the Wi-Fi connectivity off while the phone reaches the idle or sleep mode. This is not too bad a problem as it saves your battery and data consumption but for people who need timely updates and notifications can fix the problem easily. Go to advanced Wi-Fi settings, and select ‘Never’ for ‘Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep.

Less Internal Storage

The contents of our phone’s gallery exceed the limitation of the internal memory quite soon. You don’t have to feel sad about deleting the old media contents from your phone. Just save them on cloud servers like Drop-box, Google Photos and Google Drive before you wipe out everything. This will help you empty space for new files and also in the secure storage of the old ones.

Crashing Apps

Some of your apps might stop working suddenly. This is due to an overload of corrupt cache or app data. Delete the cache in the method discussed above to have smooth operating apps. If deleting the app cache is not solving the problem, then take a back up of the app related contents and then delete the app data and reboot your phone. Download and install the app again from Google Play.

Warms Up

Some Android phones get heated up due to manufacturing or other defects or maybe for the presence of heavy apps like game apps and Facebook. Try not using your phone while its on charge and avoid heavy apps or use their lighter versions. Give it a break when it warms up too much.

Intervening the Auto Correct Feature

Does your Android interfere with auto correct word suggestions while you type a message? If you find it irritating, turn it off by going to Settings>Language & input>Android Keyboard>Auto correction and tap on ‘Off.’

These common Android issues can intervene in the way of seamless mobile regime. Resolve them by following the above steps and you will be a happy Android user.
