Do you have a hard time studying?
Do you wish that you could just switch OCD off for a while so that you can study?
Here are some things that you can do right now that will help you do just that:
Write down on a piece of paper whatever it is that you feel like you have to do, whatever ritual, whatever compulsion and why.
Fold this piece of paper up and say, I’ll get to that, right now I am going to study, after I am done, I have the basic gist of what I feel like I have to do. You don’t have to write everything down, just the gist of it, it may be something like, Wash floors seven times, wash hands three times or whatever.
Then put that piece of paper in a drawer and kind of lock it up until you are done studying, or put it somewhere where away from you or near you, whichever one gives you more relief so that you can study.
Then study, you may still feel like it’s hard, but do your best and then when you are done, then you can open that paper and burn it. Say, “I will not do these things, I don’t care what happens, I’m done and OCD is just too tiring, I quit OCD!”
This may sound hard to do and trust me, it is, but it’s what must be done. Just let the anxiety that will follow wash over you and you’ll find that it won’t hurt you or kill you and you will start to become OCD free if you continue this.
Take action: Write down what is bothering you and put it aside, kinda holding it off, so you can get the things that you need to get done now, you can do this with anything, not just studying.
